PITREAVIE'S Jack Lawrie was a triple gold medal winner in the National Championships at Aberdeen Sports Village at the weekend.

He was one of nine athletes from the Dunfermline-based club to win national titles, while a number of Pitreavie athletes added to their medal collections with top three finishes.

Lawrie, competing at under-20 level, was a convincing winner in his three events.

He won the 400m in 50.19s, just under a second ahead of the runner-up; he was first in the 100m hurdles in 14.31s, finishing 0.9s ahead of the second-placed athlete; and he was 4.5s clear of his nearest challenger in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 54.70s.

In the same age group, Declan Brennan completed a sprint double, winning both his races by the narrow margin of 100th of a second, taking the 100m title in 11.11s and the 200m in 22.72s.

Anna Gordon won the pole vault with 3.70m, while Pitreavie clubmates Kirsten Mullen and Kara Bradbeer both recorded vaults of 2.90m to finish third and fourth respectively.

There was a silver medal for Niamh Guest in the 100m hurdles, and a bronze medals for Mark Gutherie in the hammer and Kirsten Louden in the high jump.

In the under-17s, the women's pole vault was won by Kirsten Cronie with 2.87m, and the men's pole vault was won by Craig Moriarty with 3.77m.

Emma Rae took the under-17 hammer title on the Saturday with a throw of 49.36m, just under five metres ahead of her nearest challenger, and then won the under-15 title on the Sunday, throwing 49.58m, nearly nine metres better than the runner-up.

Rebecca Porter was the winner of the under-15 discus with a throw of 32.00m, and there was success on the track in the same age group for Iona Crawford in the 800m, winning in 2.22.77, and Ben Grant in the 300m, who crossed the line in 38.11s.

Bethany McAndrew picked up a silver medal in the long jump and a bronze in the 75m hurdles, and James Adam was runner-up in the 800m.

In the under-13s, there were bronze medals for Billy Doyle in the 200m and Lewis Blair in the 800m.
