Boxing Day Paarlauf

Published on Sunday, 21 December 2014 10:15

Here is a wee local event that some of the club might be interested in competing in during the Christmas holidays. It is a wee event set up by Ian Johnston of the Carnegie Harriers that a lot of Pitreavie AAC athletes, young and old, have competed in the last few years. Here are the details:

Crossgates Community Woodlands Paarlauf, Friday 26th December 2014. The now annual Paarlauf (running partners over a set distance) will be staged at Crossgates Community Woodlands on Boxing Day at 11:00 a.m.

  • Race venue is accessed from the last turn on your right heading from Crossgates towards Cowdenbeath beside the dual carriageway flyover.
  • Please use the car park or park with consideration for residents of the area.
  • Registration by 10:30 on the day to allow time to draw up a handicap list.
  • Entry fee will be £2 and the prize list will be extensive.
  • Entry is open to all so please invite others to join us.
  • Race limit of 40 = 20 pairs.
  • No facilities are available so please arrive ready to race.
  • Route is on sculpted gravel paths and Farm access road.
  • Each lap will be 1.2K giving a total distance of 9.6K over 8 laps. The paired runners will have the choice of handing over on any part of the course.
  • No runner will be allowed to run more than one complete lap before handing over to their partner.
  • Prizes giving will be as soon as possible after the event and again will be extensive.
  • It is planned to have the prize giving finished by 12:30.

If bad weather or other factors cause concern I will post on the Carnegie Harriers Facebook page and another local venue of similar distance is ready to use.

If you would like to enter then please contact Ian or myself.

Thanks,

Neil
