FVL Matach 1 Report

Published on Thursday, 23 April 2015 08:40

The first match of the season kicked off on Saturday and Nicola was sad to see Louisa stand down from Team Managing, but happy to see Gillian Marshall get on board. With the Club Champs only the weekend before and some people still on holiday it was a bit of a last minute effort getting the team together.

There were lots of new faces in the team and all Under 11s were competing for the club for the very first time. All were enthusiastic and gave their all on the day.

We had a great start to the match with Joshua Revie winning the U15 boys 100m, and a fantastic finish to the match with the U13 girls running a blinding 4x100m relay to take first place, A lot of cracking performances in between too!

Our only gap of the day was the Under 11 girls' relay team, with only three girls competing we could not field a scoring team. The girls were keen to run though so U13 Eilish De Swarte was happy to help out and run one of the legs. We are confident that next match we will have a full team.

The team did well to come third in this match, only a few points behind Edinburgh. This league has grown from strength to strength and is now really popular with twenty teams and three divisions, only a few years ago the league had twelve teams across two divisions. The organisers do such a fantastic job that clubs are continually asking to join.

The Team Managers will be looking at the timetable for the next two matches and ensuring that a wide compliement of athletes are invited to compete in this league. Gillian will be the main point of contact for match 2.

Don't be disappointed if you competed in match 1 but are not selected for match 2, we do not take your performance into account. For U13s and U15s who are performing well you will likely be selected for the YDL and/or Women's league where we strive to put out our best teams.

If you have any questions then please ask.
