A NUMBER of Pitreavie athletes returned as medal winners from the Youth Development League's Scottish final at Grangemouth.
Some of the best performers were the under-13 boys who dominated the distance events.
Lewis Blair picked up silver in the 800m, finishing just three hundredths of a second behind the winner in 2:16.11; while Campbell Dowie was the 800m B race winner in 2:26.70.
In the 1500m, Lewis Dow won in 4.42.81, an impressive 13 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger; while Conor Gourley won the B race in 4:54.03, more than 22 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
In the same age group, Euan Johnston picked up a silver medal in the 75m hurdles, clocking 12.70s, and finished runner-up in the 200m B race in 29.59s; while Ben Ollis was third in the 75m hurdles B race in 15.47s.
Sam Turnbull secured the bronze medal in the high jump with a clearance of 1.40m, and Ben Knowles was second in the B event with 1.35m.
In the girls' under-13 events, there were gold medals for Jenny Gillanders, who won the 1200m in 4:01.71, and Jennifer Brydon, who cleared 1.45m in the high jump. Jennifer was also second in the 70m hurdles B race in 12.71s.
Also in the B events, Ailsa Barr won the 1200m in 4:11.10, Skye Marshall was second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.35m, and Emma Tucker was third in the javelin with a throw of 11.73m.
At under-15 level, Alex Johnston won gold in the 1500m in 4:30.51, and there were bronze medals for Joshua Revie (300m, 40.10s) and Lee Turner (100m, 12.27s). Harry Johnston won the 100m B race in 12.51s.
Joshua and Lee then teamed up with Cameron Keelan and Billy Doyle to pick up silver in the 4x100m relay in a time of 49.08s.
For the girls, Lucy McRoberts secured silver in the 200m in 27.41s, with Ailsa Marsh third in the B race in 28.26s; while Connie Booth collected bronze in the 75m hurdles in 12.59s, and Rachel Thomson was second in the B race in 12.74s.
Overall, Pitreavie finished fourth in the final, behind winners Edinburgh AC, Giffnock North and Inverness Harriers.
