A BLISTERING last leg by Ben Grant clinched the gold medal for Pitreavie's 4x400m under-17 team at the Scottish Relay Championships.
They were one of seven teams from the club to return home with medals from the weekend's competition at the Aberdeen Sports Village.
In a closely fought battle for the title with the Law & District AAC team, Pitreavie's James Adam, Joshua Revie and Alex Johnston all completed their legs in times around the 55-second mark, as did their closest challengers.
Law's Stuart Taylor-Peacock took the baton for the last leg with a slight advantage, but despite completing his 400m in 51.5s, he was overtaken by Grant who finished over a second quicker in an impressive 50.4s.
That gave the Pitreavie team the title in a time of 3:35.39, ahead of Law, who clocked 3:35.95.
The Pitreavie under-17 women's 4x300m quartet picked up silver medals and set a new club record of 2:53.93.
The team of Lucy McRoberts, Iona Crawford, Emiljia Morrison and Hannah Dow opened up a good lead after the first two legs, but Central AC, who kept their top runners for the latter stages, closed the gap in the third leg before taking the lead at the final baton change and holding on to win.
There was also a club record for the under-15 girls' 4x300m team of Ailsa Marsh, Sarah Coutts, Jennifer Brydon and Skye Marshall, but again they had to settle for silver behind an impressive team from Central.
The Pitreavie quartet stayed in touch with the leaders for much of the first three legs, but were trailing by a few metres at the final baton change and with Emma Mailer - currently ranked No.1 in the UK for her age group - on the last leg for Central, they were never going to quite manage to close the gap.
Pitreavie's senior women's quartet of Annie Nelson, Nicole De-Pear, Lexie Cook and Leah Davie were silver medallists in the 4x400m, finishing in a time of 4:16.11.
And there were more silvers for Pitreavie's senior women and senior men in the 4x100m relays.
The women's quartet of Natalie Carson, Nicole De-Pear, Erin Graham and Annie Nelson finished second in a time of 54.48s.
The men's team - made up of under-20 athletes Michael Tarnawsky, Craig Moriarty, Cameron Sinclair and Taylor Roy - were involved in a closely-fought race, with the top three teams separated by just a quarter of a second.
In the end, Pitreavie had to settle for second place in a time of 44.10s, just nine hundredths of a second behind winners Inverclyde.
Also returning home with medals were the Pitreavie under-15 3x800m runners.
Conor Gourley, who has only just moved up to the under-13 age group this season, Conor Allan and Lewis Dow finished in 6:52.58 in the bronze medal position, just narrowly missing out on the silver.
