East District Championships 2005 | | Pitreavie athletes took 23 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze at the East District Championships over the weekend of 14th and 15th May 2005. | Due to a double booking at Meadowbank stadium the Scottish Athletics East District Championships were held at Scotstoun. There was fine weather both days, but on the first day the wind was against the sprinters and precluded any personal best performances, while on the second day the wind was with the sprinters and most of the time was far too strong for any performances to be noted as records. Pitreavie athletes of all ages and in a range of different events recorded a number of personal best performances.

Hurdlers Francis Smith and Eilidh Child both retained their East District Titles. Francis in the Senior Mens 110m Hurdles 14.94 secs and 400m Hurdles in 54.41 secs. Eilidh in the U20 Ladies 100m Hurdles in 15.70 secs and 400m Hurdles in 61.42 secs.
Scot Thompson also achieved a double –Senior Mens Discus 51.89m and Shot 15.86m. U20 man Chris Tatton notched up a treble with wins in the Hammer 42.07m – a PB, Shot 11.82m and discus 31.78m In the U17 Mens sprints Ryan Oswald achieved a double, winning the 100m in 11.27 secs and 200m in 22.31 secs. Another double was achieved in the U13 age group by Craig Robinson in winning the 800m in a personal best time and Championship best performance of 2 mins 18.81 secs and the Long jump with another Championship best performance of 5.26m.
| Pitreavie athletes were dominant in the senior Men`s short sprints with Jamie Coull taking first place in the 100m in 11.22 secs. In the 200m Ian Mackie was a second and a half clear of his nearest rival and looked superb with a winning time of 21.09 secs. John Newsom was another Senior from Pitreavie to take a gold medal, John won the 5000m in 15 mins 08.44 secs. Siobhan Coleman stepped up an age group to take 1st place in the U20 Ladies 3000m with a winning time of 10mins 12.07 secs. In the U20 mens 400m Sean McQueen was first in 50.66 secs. There were 1st places for Peter Munnoch in the U15 boys Triple Jump with 8.76m a PB, and Alan Smith in the U13 Boys Shot with 9.23m another PB.
In the Senior Ladies Javelin Veteran Athlete Norma Bruce was 2nd in the Javelin with a Scottish Masters Record and Pitreavie Club record of 36.01m. In the U17 Ladies Discus Catriona McKay took 1st place with a PB of 27.84 m.
U13 girls Shot Putt saw Pitreavie`s Kristy Armstrong take 1st place with 6.74m a PB.
Silver Medals went to Jennifer Farrow Senior ladies 400m Hurdles, Samantha Lindin U20 Ladies Polevault 2.00m a PB, Catriona McKay U17 Ladies Triple Jump 10.47m PB, Lucy Crookston Polevault 2.00m a PB and 300m Hurdles.
Siobhan Coleman U17 Ladies 1500m 4 mins 38.69 secs a PB and Megan Frail U15 girls 75m Hurdles 12.14 secs a PB, Francis Smith Senior Mens 100m 11.24 secs, Derek Paisley 400m Hurdles 55.21 secs, Bruce Robb Discus 50.689m and Shot 15.49m. U20 mens 400m Hurdles Michael Burns 63.71 secs, Douglas Newsom U17 mens 800m 2 mins 05.36 secs, Anthony Young U13 boys 100m 13.69secs and 800m 2 mins 23.07 secs a PB and Ross McManus U13 boys Shot 8.25m.
Bronze medals – Lauren Candlish U20 Ladies 100m and 400m, Rebecca Burns U17 Ladies 800m 2 mins 19.46 secs a PB, Danielle Hynd U13 girls Discus 20.32 m a PB, Melissa Hynd U13 girls Shot 6.47m, Graeme Lister U20 mens 400m 52.02 secs , Stephen Irwin U20 Mens 2000m Steeplechase 6 mins 43.15 secs, Stuart Chisholm U20 Mens Polevault 2.00m and Neil Aitken U15 boys 80m Hurdles 14.66 secs a PB.
