SYAL 2005 - Match 3 at Grangemouth | Young athletes from Pitreavie competed in the Scottish Young Athletes League 3rd match on Sunday 26 June at Grangemouth and produced some excellent results.
There was a treble for Cat McKay and Athlete of the match for Alan Smith.
| In the Under 17 Ladies Catriona McKay achieved a fine treble, winning the 80 m Hurdles ‘A’ race in a personal best time of 13.1 secs, Long Jump ‘A’ with 4.53 m another PB and she also won the Shot ‘A’.
Lucy Crookston was 1st in the 80m Hurdles ‘B’ in 13.9 secs, 1st in the Javelin ‘A’ with 17.83 m and 2nd in the 300m Hurdles ‘A’ in 51.4 secs.
Lauren Giles was 2nd ‘A’ in the 200m in 27.8 secs. The relay team of Lucy Crookston, Catriona McKay, Kirstyn Suttie and Lauren Giles was 3rd.
In the Under 15 Girls Lauren McManus was 2nd in the 100m ‘A’ in 12.9 secs and 1st in the 200m ‘A’ in 26.2 secs which was a personal best.
Megan Frail reduced her 75m Hurdles time once again to record a personal best of 12.00 secs to win the ‘A’ event and she also won the ‘A’ Long Jump with a fine leap of 4.82 metres. In the High Jump Megan was 3rd ‘A’ with a clearance of 1.40m.
Jayne Carmichael was 1st in the 100m ‘B’ in 13.3 secs and recorded a personal best to take 2nd place in the 200m ‘B’ in 27.5 secs.
In the 800m Stacey Louch was 3rd ‘A’ in 2 mins 34.0 secs and in the Shot ‘A’ Danielle Hynd was 2nd with 7.11m. The relay team of Danielle, Jayne, Megan and Lauren was 1st in 52.7 secs.
In the Under 13 Girls Pitreavie took maximum points in the 800m through Caroline Brewster winning the ‘A’ event in 2 mins 34.6 secs and Melissa Hyne the ‘B’ event in 2 mins 50.9 secs.
Keshie Law was 2nd in the 1200m in 4 mins 39.0 secs.

| In the Under 17 Mens events Ryan Oswald achieved a double with 1st in the 100m ‘A’ in 11.3 and 1st in the 200m ‘A’ in 23.2 secs. Ryan is desperately trying to shake off a a cold before flying to Italy this weekend for the European Youth Olympics.
Dale Carver also achieved a double – 1st in the ‘B’ 100m in 11.9 secs and 1st in the 400m ‘A’ in 53.6 secs. In the Long Jump ‘A’ Dale was 2nd with 4.87m. Greg Dewar was 1st ‘B’ in the Long Jump with 4.43m.
The relay team of Ryan Oswald, Dale Carver, Tom Fleming and Greg Dewar was 1st.
The Under 13 Boys saw Alan Smith awarded Male Athlete of the Match for his 1st place in the ‘A’ Shot with a personal best of 9.92 metres. To add to this Alan was also 3rd in the ‘A’ 75 m Hurdles.
Craig Robinson, who was awarded the same title earlier in the season, took 1st place in the 100m ‘A’ in a personal best of 13.1 secs and set a new League Record in the 800m ‘A’ with 2 mins 19.0 secs.
Anthony Young also achieved a double by winning the 800m ‘B’ in 2 mins 25.0 secs and the 200m ‘A’ in 26.9 secs. In the High Jump Anthony achieved a fine personal best when finishing 2nd ‘A’ with a leap of 1.46m.
Ross McManus was 1st in the ‘B’ Shot with 8.43 m.
Peter Henderson was 2nd in the ‘A’ 1500m in a time of 5 mins 22.8 secs

| Until all the results throughout Scotland are collated it is not known whether Pitreavie’s Girls or Boys have reached the Final which is on 31 July.
