Francis Smith with only his second competition after injury claimed the 60 metres hurdles title in 8.14 seconds, a time which puts him fourth in the UK rankings.

Jemma was also 5th in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.34m and 5th in the Shot Putt with a throw of 10.40m.
Jemma is now ranked 10th on the UK senior ladies early season lists for 60m hurdles.
There was a silver medal for Graeme Oudney in the 800m in 1 min 50.46 seconds and another silver came from the Boys Under 15 4x200m relay. The team of Anthony Young, Craig Robinson, Lewis Brown and Michael Wilson qualified for their final by taking second place in the heat in a Pitreavie under-15 boys’ indoor record of 1.44.05. In the final they were once again second to Giffnock North AC whose time of 42.31 was a new Scottish native record for the age group. Pitreavie set a new club record again in the final with a time of 1.42.92.

The clubs only bronze medal came in the girls under 13 4x200m. The team suffered a call off just two days before the championships and 10-year-old Naomi Fox was drafted in at short notice. The foursome of Kristy Armstrong, Rebecca Law, Naomi Fox and Claire Duncan qualified for the final in a club record time of 2.05.72, the squad knew they were up against it in the final after watching strong runs in the other heats from City of Edinburgh, Giffnock North and Central AC. Undaunted, the squad were in lane one for the final and all four ran brilliantly to take the bronze medal position in another Pitreavie under-13 girls’ 4x200m relay record of 2.05.12.

Other athletes in action were:

18-year-old Stuart Chisholm equalled his personal best of 3 metres in his new event the pole vault to finish sixth. Stuart is showing great promise in this event and is expected to go much higher in the summer.
Eilidh Child recorded a winter’s best of 9.18 secs in her heat of the ladies’ 60m hurdles to make the final in which she was one place behind Jemma Scott in 5th with another winter’s best of 9.16 secs. In the Under 17 Womens 4x200m the Pitreavie team were umlucky in their heat draw to be in with one of the hot favourites Falkirk Victoria AC. The Pitreavie quartet of Courtney Wilkinson, Kirstyn Suttie, Ailsa Doidge and Lauren MacManus ran well to finish second in a time of 1:50.50 which was actualy the 4th fastest time of all the heat times but due to the progression rules where only the winners plus one fastest losing team went through the ladies didn`t make it. Their time was still faster than two of the teams in the final ran.

The under 15 girls team of Danielle Hynd, Melissa Hynd, Emma Senior and Megan Frail were 2nd in their heat in a time of 1:56.53.
The under 13 boys team of Lewis Hunter, Fraser Hutt, Danny McAtear and Calum McQueen were 3rd in their heat in a time of 2:06.62.
