Go BackDate set for Forth Bridge 10K 2009
Sunday 9th August is the date set for the 7th running of the Forth Road Bridge Pitreavie 10K Road Race.
Last year’s race was again acclaimed as being one of the most scenic and memorable in the Scottish Road Running calendar. The event was also rated as 8th most popular race in the UK in it’s category by Runners World with over 300 runners completing the out and back course over the Forth Road Bridge.

The 2009 Forth Road Bridge Pitreavie 10K is being held this year on Sunday 9th August and will again follow the same route as previous years. The start and finish will also remain unchanged. Further information on start time, location etc is provided below, where a printable entry form can also be accessed.

The race has an entry limit of 350, and is always fully subscribed, last year it was full 6 weeks before race day; unfortunately we are not able to offer entries on the day. Please get your application form in early, entries providing an email address will receive confirmation by return. All entries will be processed and race numbers posted out commencing in July.
Stewarded car parking will be available on the grass field at the North Queensferry Community Centre, which is at the top of Brock Street. To find it, first get to North Queensferry Railway Station and turn west at the narrow railway bridge. Brock Street is a narrow residential road, so please drive carefully. You will then be directed as to where to park on the field behind the Centre. Do not try to park in the streets leading to the Centre, as you will block in local resident’s vehicles. Please do not park or access the race finish at the Corus Hotel. Allow yourself plenty of time for getting to the race on the morning.

The meeting point and start will be at the Community Centre; where race information, limited toilet, changing accommodation and bag storage will be available. Refreshments will be available after the race.

The race starts at 10.30am, outside the Community Centre, and finishes on the upstream side of the Forth Road Bridge at the Fife bridgehead. Please clear the finish area as soon as you can, as you will be standing close to high speed traffic. Spectators can have a good view of the finish from the steps leading up to the Community Centre,. Return to the changing area and your car by using the steps leading down and under the bridge. The race is unsuitable for wheelchairs.

The route is generally on paths and pavements, some of which are close to busy roads. For your safety please take care and obey the instructions of the race officials and marshals. There will be a water station located at the south side of the Bridge (around the 7K mark).

There will be medals for all finishers. Individual prizes are being awarded for the usual categories, as well as some spot prizes. The presentations will be made as soon as we can after the race, at the Community Centre. Please stay and enjoy the post-race food and drink. Full race results will be posted on this web site and the Scottish Athletics website.

Please note that in the unlikely event of there being high winds on the day, the Forth Road Bridge Authority has reserved the right to cancel the race and if in doubt you should listen out for local radio announcements on the morning of the race.

*Please Note: The entry form has now been disabled.*
