Pitreavie AAC Endurance Section round up 12 Oct 2020

Published on Monday, 02 November 2020 14:16

With the easing of restrictions on organised sports, small scale competitive events are slowly starting up again.  In a home grown event held on the same day as the recent SUPERteams for under 13s, Pitreavie AAC Endurance Section athletes took part in a Novice Mile race at the Pitreavie track.  The mixed age and pace race, designed to build confidence, was the first track race for many of those competing.  The exhilarating and mentally tough race saw Kirstyn Suttie placing first on 5:42:7 mins, Matthew Kelly placing 2nd on 6:04:4 mins, and Scott Walker 3rd on 6:22:1 mins, and several competitors gain PBs.

In other local races, the Falkland Hill Trail Race, organised by Falkland Trail Runners saw 120 runners start in waves of 5 to ensure COVID-19 compliance, over the course to East Lomond.  With over 1100 feet of ascent this was a tough race.  The event brought further success for Kirstyn, who was 1st Senior Female in a time of 37:42 mins.

The ever popular 4 mile Binary Gala Trail Race, organised by Trails of Fife, saw excellent Pitreavie AAC Endurance representation with over 13 people running on the day along Loch Ore and up the dreaded Harran Hill.  Iain Howatt (M50) placed 1st in his age category on 27:55 mins and 5th overall, with Paul Dick placing 3rd M40 on 30:04 mins.
