The newest section of our club starts up tomorrow night when we will see the RaceRunners join us on the track from 5-6pm. This is the first racerunning group to be set up in Fife.
Racerunning is an athletic discipline for disabled athletes or 'racerunners'. Athletes use a running bike, a three-wheeled frame with a saddle, body support and most notably, no pedals. Athletes run over distances similar to other track and road running disciplines; 100, 200, 400, 800metres as well as 10kilometres, half and full marathons.
The sport of racerunning was founded in Denmark in 1991 by Paralympian Connie Hansen and present international racerunning coordinator Mansoor Siddiqi.

The group will be led by racerunning coaches Pierette Melville and Lorna Zlotos who we also welcome to Pitreavie AAC. It will start with reduced numbers as the group can only secure the loan of two bikes. It is the plan to increase numbers as the group has currently had to turn some runners away. One of our own athletes (Sophie Nethery) will also be assisting with this group,
Please say hello if you get the chance on Tuesday.
