By 2014 Vonny has completed 44 years membership of Pitreavie AAC. She joined the club when her family became interested in athletics and remained ever since to play a significant part in developing Pitreavie AAC to become a major force in Scottish Athletics.
In that time she has been involved in all aspects of the club's activities -
administration , coaching , fund raising , officiating and many more.
In addition to club involvement, Vonny has officiated at the highest level- Commonwealth Games and European Championships - and been involved in administration at District level within athletics.
Administration
Club Committee
Vonny first became a member of the club committee between 1974 and 2010 and served on it for approx 30yrs though not continuously.
Coaching Secretary
Vonny held this important post in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 , 1981 & 1988
This involved organising regular meetings with club coaches, encouraging members to become qualified coaches and arranging presentations from visiting coaches.
Club Secretary
She took on the vital post of secretary in 1983/84
Vice President
Elected VP 1988/89 , 1989/90 standing in for the President where necessary and chairing the committee in the President's absence
Thistle Awards
This was a national scheme run by the predecessors of Scottish Athletics to recognise youngsters' achievements .Vonny was very involved in arranging Pitreavie's entries.
The club won many Gold , Silver & Bronze awards during this scheme.
Sports Council
She was a member of the Dunfermline & West Fife Sports Council for a number of years
Indoor Athletics Centre
Vonny served on the Pitreavie Users Group from 2005 and provided advice and guidance on the building of the Indoor Athletics Centre till it’s competition in 2007
In addition Vonny supported club fund raising activities – serving in thrift shops, writing addresses on envelopes for raffles etc et
National
At National level, Vonny was SWAAA East District Secretary for a couple of years in the '80s and as a result was responsible for organising the Women's East District Championships at Pitreavie for at least two years
SWAAA was the governing body for Women's athletics in Scotland prior to Scottish Athletics.
She acted as assistant team manager to several Scottish Teams competing in England.
Officiating
She became a qualified official and worked her way through the grades becoming a Grade 1 (now Level 3) judge for field events and a grade 2 judge for track events in 1985.
Vonny has officiated at all levels of competition from Club , Leagues and local Primary and Fife Secondary Schools events (which she still does) to major international events:
She officiated at the Commonwealth Games(Edin) 1986, European Indoor Champs ( Kelvin Hall) 1990, European Special Olympics (Glasgow) 1990 , European Cup (Meadowbank) 1981 and many other events high level events.
Coaching
In 1974 she started to coach and qualified as a Club Coach at Hurdles.
