A Weekend of Highs and Lows

Published on Tuesday, 17 March 2015 09:58

This weekend saw some real highs and lows for many athletes and supporters of the club. At the Scottish U20/Senior Relay Championship at The Emirates stadium it was a superb day for the Pitreavie AAC squad in the 4 x 200m races.

The A team comprising of Declan Brennan, Ewan Dyer, James McLaren and Steve Perrie-Clyde set a championship record with victory in 1.29.30 beating the original record by 0.3sec. The B team comprising of David Brand, Taylor Roy (U17), David Agnew and Lewis Hunter were unlucky to just miss out on third place.

The women's team comprising of  Ashley Oswald, Niamh Guest, Amiker best (U17) and Sarah Connor also ran a fantastic race to take silver medal.

Well done to all three teams.

As the good news came in from the relays we were also saddened to hear of the passing of former member Sean McQueen. Sean was a member of John McDonald and Paul Allan's sprints squad from 2000 onwards. Sean was a fantastic 400m runner and picked up international vests at youth level, Sean also captained the Pitreavie Senior team for one season.

There is a tribute to Sean on the SATS website alongside reports from the Relay and CE Championships at the weekend:

There are also personal tributes to Sean on our Club's Facebook page.

Our thoughts are with his family and his Dad Dave who is a former president of Pitreavie AAC. Sean will be missed by all.
