Girl power on and off track...

Just when we thought the weekend had been a great one for young Pitreavie athletes it turns out there is more to report! Whilst coach Colin was down in Bedford there was a real sister-act here at the Alan Bertrum Memorial hammer event on Saturday with Lisa McAlpine coming fourth, which isn't a bad result considering that gold and silver were taken by Susan McKelvie and Mira Perkins who both recently represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games. Younger sister Kym upped the anti and made it to the podium to receive a silver medal in her age category.

Both athletes got to meet Mark Dry who won bronze at the games. It sounds like he was lucky to get his medal back as Lisa had thougts about slipping away with it unoticed!

Completely off track Emily Nicholson has been selected to run for Scotland in the Junior Home International Hill Running race in Ireland on 20th September following her great performance in the selection race at the weekend. This time last year Emily was trying to come back from a five month injury which proves that when things get tough don't give up.

Well done to all girls!
